Meet our Chef: Spencer
Spencer Jason Schmerzler grew up on Long Island where at a very young age discovered his love for food and agriculture. Growing up he has always wanted to work on both sides of the food industry, growing and preparing.
Eventually he found himself studying at SUNY Cobleskill where he received his Bachelor’s in Business Administration and Associate’s in Culinary Arts. While at school he also took classes like soil science and botany, which helped him while working on some local farms in Schoharie County.
After Spencer graduated he stayed in the area to explore and fine-tune his passion for the farm to table movement and opening people’s minds when it comes to food. Now he finds himself spending his summers at The Glimmerglass Festival as head chef for the Young Artist Program (YAPs) and venturing into starting his own business.
